In 2019, Microsoft and Oracle teamed up to deliver an offering that combined their best capabilities in a single application: Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure.
Fast forward three years and the technology giants have made it even easier to deploy such a solution, streamlining processes from setting up cross-cloud networks to enhancing identity management.
Now, with Oracle Database Services for Microsoft Azure, companies can launch and manage their most fundamental Oracle databases from Azure, using a single solution that integrates many apps.
In addition, businesses may migrate and build new applications on Azure before connecting to an Oracle database to extrapolate the maximum possible value.
The launch reflects both providers' excitement in multi-cloud, as they interconnect Azure and Oracle OCI.
Making this point, Carl Olofson, Research Vice President, Data Management Software at IDC, stated:
This combined and interactive connection of services across public clouds sets the stage for what a multicloud experience should be… It should deliver huge benefits for customers, developers, and the cloud services landscape overall.
An excellent example of how the offering can deliver value is harnessing an Oracle database from Azure – and running Power BI initiatives against it. In this sense, users can access Microsoft's leading analytics services as if they are in Oracle.
Such a solution enables enterprises to avoid the complex rearchitecting to harness both companies' services. Instead, companies can move mission-critical apps to Azure and connect to Oracle Database Services, allowing them to create and run production workflows seamlessly.
