MuleSoft and IBM Partner on Digital Experience Integrations

API platform and Salesforce subsidiary MuleSoft has announced a new partnership with enterprise technology giant IBM to help companies better utilise data across applications.

The partnership will see MuleSoft’s Anypoint Runtime Fabric container service able to run on IBM’s Red Hat OpenShift Kubernetes platform, allowing companies to deploy APIs, integrations and automations across public and private clouds.

MuleSoft framed the partnership as responding to the ever-increasing trend for more digital workforce and customer engagement, and the need to connect data across systems to deliver more connected digital experiences.

"The move to digitalisation has accelerated, requiring companies to evolve and adapt to increasing customer needs and new technologies. With Anypoint Runtime Fabric, IT can be agile and flexible when change happens by easily deploying in any environment,” said Meir Amiel, chief product officer, MuleSoft.

"MuleSoft is pleased to collaborate with IBM to help our joint customers securely integrate, automate, and manage their workflows across environments to respond to the needs of the market at scale."

The two companies are also increasing integrations with the IBM Z data security platform, which is used by 85 of the world’s 100 largest banks.

"As companies modernise their hybrid cloud strategy, they need the flexibility to run and manage their most critical workloads in any cloud environment or on premise. With this relationship and Red Hat OpenShift technologies, we're further helping customers accelerate and automate their integrations with core systems which can lead to faster development of hybrid cloud applications," said Bob Lord, senior vice president, IBM Worldwide Ecosystems.

MuleSoft’s parent company Salesforce took the opportunity of its Dreamforce event earlier in the year to announce it was integrating newly acquired communications platform Slack with MuleSoft, as well as its industry clouds and commerce and experience platforms.

“Building your digital HQ means thinking carefully about the digital infrastructure that connects everyone in your business, helping them find new ways to innovate, collaborate and stay connected,” said Stewart Butterfield, CEO and Co-Founder of Slack, at the time.
